Tanzania have booked a place into the 2020 championship of African nations(CHAN) after beating South Sudan 2-1 away from home in their second leg playoff on Friday.

The Tanzanian, who had lost 0-1 at home in the first leg a couple of weeks ago to the Sudanese put up a seller performance to qualify on the away goal rule following a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.

Eventual man of the match Ditram Nchimbi, making his first competitive start for Taifa Stars scored a goal and assisted another to give his country the win.

A sublime free kick from Erasto Nyoni had given the Taifa Stars the equaliser after an early lead by the Sudanese.

Tanzania got to the third round of the CHAN Qualifiers by beating Kenya 4-1 on penalties after both legs of their encounter in the second round failed to produced any goals.

That victory was the second time the Taifa Stars were eliminating their northern neighbours in this championship.

Prior to Friday's victory over South Sudan, Tanzania had not won a game since their 3-0 win against Uganda at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt earlier this year.
