Highlife musician Kofi Boakye Yiadom, known in music circles as Kofi B has suggested to organisers of the prestigious music award event (VGMA), Charterhouse Ghana to dismiss all Vodafone Ghana Music Awards board members.

According to him, the bribery allegations raised by the Head of Communications, Charterhouse Production, George Quaye, should not be covered since many musicians have questioned the credibility of the award scheme years ago.

Speaking to Gatuso on Kasapa FM’sAben Wo Ha’ show, Thursday, the highlife singer disclosed that some concern musicians have formed a group to petition the event organisers, the President of Ghana and other music associations in the country to put on hold this year’s edition of the VGMA to pave way for an in-depth investigations into the matter.

Apart from Kofi B, a number of artistes have also registered their misgivings at the annual Ghana Music Awards, with some calling on their colleagues to boycott it. They have argued, among other things, that the scheme is not credible.

Kofi B also expressed worry on why Dancehall music is now part of Ghanaian music categories.

“Let’s add ‘patoa’ to school syllabus to be learnt by student if we have accepted Dancehall music which was never part of us.”
