The Volta Region will for the first time participate in the Chief Imam Ramadan Cup with Hohoe Zongo joining the competition this year.

The region thus becomes only the third to join the competition, which is in its sixth edition.

It comes at a time there has been  calls for the tournament to be extended  to cover the entire country.

The previous five editions have had only the Greater Accra and Eastern Region competing for the Ramadan glory.

But Hohoe, which is one of the seven debutants  in the tournamen, will face its first test by competing for a Round 6 berth against Greater Accra's Darkuman.

Twenty four Communities will participate in the knockout  competition to be staged at the Fadama Astro Turf betwen Saturday, 15th and Sunday, 16th May, 2021.

The Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup is organized yearly to honour his Eminence, the national Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu and to foster peace and unity among muslim communities in the country.

The competition could not be held last year following the Covid-19 pandemic.

The official Draw for this year's  edition was  held on Tuesday, 4th May  at the Accra with a support from the Youth and Sports ministry.
