Christian Council, Catholic Bishops Conference back Wesley Girls’ ban on fasting

The Christian Council of Ghana and the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference have both endorsed the position of the Methodist Church in the issue regarding preventing Muslim Students from fasting.

In a joint statement, Christian organisations both believe the decision by the Methodist Church not to allow the girls to fast is in the good interest of the students.

They indicated that the rules and regulations of mission schools have always been guided by traditions of the Churches and there is the need to uphold them, indicating that they have ensure discipline and high academic standards over the years.

The statement also admoniahed the Ghana Education Service not to undermine the code of conduct for the various mission schools.
