The Board of the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Limited (GhIPSS), a subsidiary of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), has appointed Mrs. Clara B. Arthur as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2025.

Mrs. Arthur brings extensive experience in the financial services and technology sectors, with a proven track record in leadership, innovation, and strategic growth. Her appointment marks a new chapter for GhIPSS as it seeks to build on its achievements and expand its impact in Ghana’s digital payments ecosystem.

Prior to her new role, Mrs. Arthur held senior leadership positions at Fidelity Bank Ghana, E Process International S.A (a subsidiary of the Ecobank Group), and also worked as a private consultant. Across these roles, she led teams delivering expert guidance in IT systems and payment solutions, contributing significantly to digital transformation in the financial industry.

Commenting on her appointment, Governor of the Bank of Ghana and Board Chairman of GhIPSS, Dr. Johnson Asiama, expressed strong confidence in Mrs. Arthur’s leadership abilities.

“We are confident that Mrs. Arthur will bring a fresh perspective and strategic vision to GhIPSS and will help lead the institution into its next phase of growth and success,” he said.

In her acceptance remarks, Mrs. Arthur described the opportunity as both an honour and a homecoming.

“I am honoured to step into this role at this pivotal time. It is more of a return for me, and I look forward to working alongside this talented team to continue the legacy of GhIPSS. Together, we will drive meaningful impact, embrace new opportunities, and shape a future in the payments industry that we can all be proud of.” ” she said.

Mrs. Arthur succeeds Mr. Archie Hesse, who previously served as CEO of GhIPSS.
