Former Deputy Power Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor has rebuked the incumbent government for not being truthful to Ghanaians about the challenges in the power sector.

There have been intermittent power outages experienced nationwide in recent times, with varying explanations from players in the power sector.

GRIDCO for instance has attributed varying reasons to the situation, one of which was the low water level of the Bui dam, a reason that has been debunked by the Chief Executive Officer of the Bui Power Authority, Fred Oware.

Speaking on the situation in a letter dated April 13, the MP for Yapei-Kusawgu  said, the current administration is not being truthful with Ghanaians.

According to him, the Mahama administration when faced with the challenge was candid with Ghanaians on the situation at hand "and proceeded to implement pragmatic policies to comprehensively address the challenge subsequently handed over a resilient a robust energy sector to President Akufo-Addo.”

He added that despite the governing party inheriting over ₵230 million in the ESLA account from the NDC government, the country according to the former Power Minister has been plunged into a period of unnotified power interruptions which keeps “worsening day by day.”

He has therefore called on government to "come clean on the current power crises as a matter of urgency and desist from engaging in blame game. Shifting blame and providing conflicting information only goes to exacerbate the crisis which is threatening lives and businesses across the country.”
