Seven players from Italian Serie A club Como 1907’s Primavera team have arrived in Ghana for a charity initiative in partnership with the non-profit organization Sports Creates Memories.
The young footballers landed at Kotoka International Airport on Monday to a warm welcome as they prepare to participate in a series of events aimed at supporting underprivileged communities in Accra.
Como 1907, known for its growing global community outreach, expressed its commitment to using football as a force for good.
“Como 1907 has strong ties with the local community and beyond. This time, the club's commitment to the community has taken us to Accra, Ghana,” the club said in a statement.
“In collaboration with the Sports Creates Memories association, seven of the Primavera players will embark on a unique journey: they will coach local children, sharing their passion for football and contributing to a project of significant social and human value.”
Sports Creates Memories has a longstanding presence in Africa, leveraging football as a means of fostering social and cultural inclusion.
The initiative will see the visiting players engage with local youth, conduct training sessions, and help promote education and empowerment through sport.
Como 1907 recently concluded an impressive season in Italy’s top flight, finishing 10th under the management of former Arsenal and Spain midfielder Cesc Fàbregas.
