Corrupt Ricketts-Hagan can’t lead NDC – Alhaji Sani
22nd December 2017
A leading member and Former Ashanti Regional Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Sani has hit back at former Central Regional Minister who has announced his intention to lead the party in 2020.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast South constituency, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan this week vented his spleen on appointees of the former administration which he was part, describing them as corrupt.
Alhaji Sani who took exception to the corruption tag said Ricketts-Hagan is more corrupt than the appointees he claims are.
Alhaji challenged the former minister to point out clearly those corrupt leaders during a radio interview with Accra Fm in Ghana’s capital.
“If he thinks he is a man enough, he should go ahead and mention names of those corrupt appointees”. He challenged describing Mr. Hagan’s statement as ‘senseless’
Mr. Kweku Ricketts-Hagan was a Former Deputy Minister of Finance under the government of the former president John Dramini Mahama.
Earlier this week, Mr. Hagan chastised some appointees of the Former president Mahama saying they were ‘heavily corrupt’ during the NDC’s time in government. He also indicated that, for NDC to get back political power, the leadership of the party needs to be overhauled thoroughly from flag bearer to grassroots executive.
He has affirmed his intension to lead the party come 2010 general election to victory.
But Alhaji Sani in his response said he is not convinced Hagan can achieve the aim of leading the party.
“Everybody vying for the flag bearer position is equally good to do that, but none of them is behaving as Hagan. No one has anything against Hagan to say leaders are preventing him from contesting. That even shows how democratic the party is and I appreciate it” urging his brother Hagan to retract his statement.
“There is nothing wrong for him to come back and say he didn’t make such statements or he erred”.
