Founder and Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga has said the court action filed at the Supreme court seeking to stop the Electoral Commission Chair appointment by President Akufo-Addo by Ghanaian citizen and campaigner Fafali Nyonantor is a fruitless action.

Fafali has filed a fresh application praying the apex court to restrain President Nana Akufo-Addo from appointing a new Chairperson for the Electoral Commission, pending the determination of her substantive case against the removal.

This comes barely a day after it emerged that the President has some names on his radar to fill the vacancies at the Commission.

Speaking in an interview, the 2012 flagbearer of the PNC said it’ll be a fruitless exercise for anyone to fight on behalf of the the EC chair for her reinstatement on the back of the scandals she’s involved herself with.

According to Ayariga, the plaintiff must be advised on such course insisting she will only waste her resources in her legal fight to block the new appointment by President Akufo-Addo.

“The lawsuit is dead on arrival. She should save her breath, save her resources, save our time and allow this to go; It’s done and its gone. If the EC chair in 2016 disqualified political parties because of signatures- that some people signed in the four sheet of papers; three were correct one was different and for that matter political parties Flagbearers were disqualified; because of minor errors that did not cost the state a cent, did not cost the people of Ghana a cent yet they were disqualified based on that style of leadership. Now that style of leadership is being applied on you and your’e crying, running, begging people to be doing Press Conferences for you? he questioned.

Mr Ayariga has commended President Akufo-Addo for acting boldly in the dismissal of the former EC Chairperson, Charlotte Osei and her two deputies.
