Coventry City head coach Frank Lampard has confirmed that the club’s top scorer and Ghanaian international Brandon Thomas-Asante picked up a hamstring injury during their 4-2 victory over Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old versatile forward pulled up off the ball late in the first half at the Riverside Stadium where the Sky Blues secured a sensational 4-2 victory in an exciting top-of-the-table clash that resulted in City taking a ten point lead at the head of the Championship.

Lampard explained that the striker felt tightness and was withdrawn as a precaution:

“It’s a hamstring. He said he didn’t feel like it was a big rip but it tightened up on him so it was a good thing to come off. Obviously it’s a concern for us so we’ll have to see how he is.”

Thomas-Asante’s Impact

  • Games played: 17 Championship matches this season

  • Goals: 10

  • Assists: 3

  • International duty: Featured for the Black Stars in the Kirin Cup against Japan and South Korea earlier this month

His contributions have been pivotal in Coventry’s push for Premier League promotion, with the club currently sitting top of the Championship table, 10 points clear of second-placed Stoke City.

Thomas-Asante will undergo assessment to determine whether he can feature in Coventry’s next fixture at home to Charlton Athletic on Saturday, November 29. His availability could prove crucial as Lampard’s side look to maintain momentum in their title charge.
