Technical Director of Ghanaian topflight side, Dreams FC, Abdul Karim Zito has objected to the idea of truncating the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season due to the country's battle with the novel  COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking in an interview with Shallom FM, the renowned tactician said cancelling the league will be the second time in recent years, pointing to the cancellation of the 2017-18 season following the Anas exposé.

According to Zito, leagues the world over have been postponed and not cancelled as being proposed by people adding that, cancelling the league will be a major blow to the clubs.

“As we speak now EPL has not been cancelled, rather it has been postponed and they are looking for means to have it completed.

“I believe we can also complete the GPL within some weeks so we plan the next one very well,” Zito noted.

Some pundits have called for the cancellation of the league following the suspension of football activities in Ghana after the outbreak of COVID 19 in the country.

There are similar developments in other parts of the world hit by the outbreak and compelled a postponement.
