The President of the Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF), Mohammed Sahnoon has urged members of the federation with grievances to resort to congress as the means of resolving their issues.

Reacting to a recent press conference by some club chairmen who called for his resignation ahead of congress slated for June 22, the cycling chief entreated members of the federation to follow the due process as stipulated in their constitution to address their concerns.

“We are guided by a constitution since 2008, which everyone has agreed on and must follow same to get their issues addressed instead of passing through the back door, which is calling for my resignation without any due cause,“ Mr Sahnoon said.

He stated that every member of the federation had agreed for their annual congress to be held in Tamale on June 22, and that would be done as scheduled without interruptions.

“At last year’s congress in Sunyani, we all agreed to have elections this year at Tamale so that would be the way to go. If people feel some executives have stayed too long in office and want a change, they must head to congress and reflect that in their votes per the constitution,” he stated.

He said the ongoing agitation within the federation was only an attempt by a certain group of people to destroy the image of cycling in the country, which would eventually destroy the sport.

“Let us not ride on the back of what is going on in football to destroy the sacrifice and dedication of many people over the years. It would not help the sport,” he stated.

Mr Sahnoon denied claims that he had ignored the regional executives and was running a dictatorship, stressing his doors were always open to anyone and would give a listening ear to every member of the federation.

“We need peace to prevail in cycling and must ensure that the issues are addressed at the right levels to ensure sanity.”
