A former spokesperson for Senator Bernie Sanders' campaign said on CNN that the Democratic Party needs "diversity" at the top levels of the Democratic National Committee, and added that “we don’t need white people leading the Democratic Party right now.”

Symone Sanders also noted Dean’s criticism of Bernie Sanders and considered it a mark against his bid to lead the democratic party.

Howard Dean is also on record maligning young people and millennials — telling those Bernie folks they just need to get in line — and maligning Bernie Sanders. And that is not what we need.

In my opinion, we don’t need white people leading the Democratic party right now. The Democratic party is diverse, and it should be reflected as so in our leadership and throughout the staff, at the highest levels.

Last Monday, the CNN contributor made headlines during a discussion about a Chicago man who was beaten by several men following a traffic dispute. One of the attackers allegedly said, “It’s one of them white boy Trump guys.”

During a discussion about the incident, CNN panelist Carl Higbie asked Sanders, “What do you say to the people who dragged a poor white guy out of a car and beat him?”

Sanders responded: “Oh my goodness, poor white people! Please!”

This is today's Democratic Party: compassionate, open to viewpoints of people of all races, not a hateful bone in its body.

At least, that's the narrative we hear from the press. The reality of who the Democrats are is represented by Ms. Sanders. And that reality shows not only a closed-minded, bigoted organization, but a party that's oblivious to its own contradictions and its towering ignorance of why it just received an historic shellacking.
