Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, was today February 6, 2019 ordered to leave the floor of parliament by First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu.

The order by the Deputy Speaker was after Mr Suhuyini was said to be disrupting proceedings of the house shortly after the Majority side had moved an application demanding that the Minority apologise to the newly elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Alhassan, for describing her as a “bloody widow”.

The Minority on Tuesday February 5 2019 staged a walk out when Lydia Alhassan was being sworn in as the MP on the floor of the House.

Before staging the walkout, the Minority MPs brandished placards on the floor of the house, some of which read: “Bloody widow”.

The statement which has been widely condemned by several individuals and groups in the country including the 1st Deputy Majority whip and Mp for Kpandai, Mr Matthew Nyindam, who moved an application on the floor of parliament asking the Minority to apologise to Ms Alhassan.

However, the Tamale North legislator who was against the motion was ordered to leave the chamber by Mr Osei-Owusu, who found the conduct of Mr Alhassan Suhuyini unparliamentary.

Mr Alhassan Suhuyini left the house amidst disapproving shouts from the Minority side.
