The Chief Fire Officer, Dr. Albert Brown Gaisie, has performed the ceremony for construction works to start on a new Fire Station in Dunkwa-on-Offin - the capital of the Upper Denkyira East Municipal Assembly.

On completion, it would have crew, conference and watch rooms, appliance bay, offices and residential accommodation.

Dr. Gaisie called for the support of the municipal assembly and traditional authorities to ensure the early completion of the project.

He asked that all found space to contribute to the effort at protecting lives and property from fire.

The Chief Fire Officer applauded the traditional rulers for making available land for the new station and pleaded for the release of additional plots of land to build residential accommodation for the firefighters.

He used the occasion to remind all to heed fire safety education to significantly bring down fire disasters.

He said it was important for everybody to be more careful and avoid doing anything that would lead to fire outbreak.

Madam Emelia Ankomah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the assembly stood ready to help complete the project without delay.

She also promised that it would go to every length to make sure that the accommodation challenges facing officers in the security services were addressed.
