E/R: Police arrest Jamaican over defilement of 3 pupils

Police in Akuse in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality in the Eastern region are currently holding a Jamaican, believed to be in his fifties for allegedly defiling 3 Pupils of the Okwenya Municipal Assembly primary school.
Rasta was on Friday, November 8, 2019 remanded into police custody by an Odumase-Krobo circuit court to reappear on Thursday, November 14, 2019 to enable the police conduct further investigations into the case.
The arrest of the suspect, only identified as Anthony, alias Rasta and a resident of Okwenya on Thursday, November 6, 2019, followed a medical report issued by the police which confirmed that the 3 pupils, aged 11, 14 and 15 respectively, had been defiled.
Akuse Police Commander, ASP Winfred Asare Nyarko who confirmed the arrest of the foreign national said while Rasta denied defiling the three young girls in question, he however admitted, during police investigations, defiling a 14 year girl but who was not one of the three girls he was arrested for allegedly defiling.
“He came to my office and denied the three allegations but admitted that he had done such a thing with another lady so we’re looking for that girl who is also fourteen years who he claimed he defiled,” said the police commander who added that the said victim was being sought to aid investigations.
ASP Nyarko disclosed that the area unit committee, reported the incident to his office, together with the three victims.
Chairman of the unit committee for the Okwenya Electoral Area who only identified himself as Paul who narrated circumstances leading to the arrest of the suspect said one of the victims fell ill while discharging fluids from her private part.
According to him, the victim after thorough interrogation by her parents, disclosed that she was defiled by Rasta who threatened to kill her if she narrated her ordeal to anyone.
The unit committee chairman disclosed that further investigations conducted revealed that other minors in the community had similarly been defiled by the suspect.
Based on these, a report was subsequently made to the Akuse Police and the suspect was picked up to help in investigations.
Residents alleged that the suspect, who has lived in the community since 2005, took advantage of the pupils who went to pluck guava from his house to lure them into the act.
