With a little over 48 hours after Ghana went to the 2016 general election polls, the independent Electoral body of Ghana has declared flagbearer of main opposition New Patriotic Party Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo as President elect of the Republic of Ghana.

Addressing the media at the Electoral Commission Headquarters, Chairperson of the EC Madam Charlotte Osei revealed that the results of the remaining four undisclosed constituencies yet to be collated will have no significant impact on the final results.

The summation of voters for the four constituencies is 220,270 which is not enough to make a meaningful impact on the current results.

This comes after outgoing President John Dramani Mahama phoned Nana Addo and congratulated him for his victory.

This is Nana Addo's third successive attempt at the presidency having lost in 2008 and 2012.

The results as announced by the EC:

He won by 5,716, 26 votes representing 53.85%, toppling incumbent President John Dramani Mahama who polled 4,713,277 representing 44.0%.
