Ecobank Ghana has purchase ICT equipment and refurbished at a value of $150,000 to selected children's home in the country to commemorate this year's ‘Ecobank day’.

As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility, the initiative is performed by all the bank’s branches in Africa with the aim of supporting orphans and needy in society.

Speaking with Joy Business after donating some equipment to the Chance for Children home in Hebron, Accra, Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana and Anglophone West Africa, Dan Sackey disclosed that the staffs of the bank are doing other additional projects in aid of supporting other relevant institutions mandated to help the orphans.

Celebrating on the theme ‘Supporting Young lives’, Ecobank subsidiaries in Ghana embarked a digital fundraising campaign to support vulnerable children across the country.

The staff of the bank have so far contributed GH¢15,245 into the account as at November 18, 2018.

According to Dan Sackey, the bank has so far supported over 200 vulnerable young children 56 in centres and approximately 150 in family-based structures.

Before the presentation, the bank held a forum on the significance of the celebration.

"This forum which is one of the key highlights of this year's celebration brings together concerned parties to discuss the provisions of sustainable childcare for vulnerable children and the role of stakeholders," Mr Sackey told Joy Business.

"We in Ghana are delighted with the opportunity to dialogue with major stakeholders and especially grateful to Ghanaians for accepting to celebrate the day with us," he added.

Among the items donated to the children's home include, food items, toiletries, computers, tables and provision of scholarships for some of the children. Source: myjoyonline.com
