The Koforidua Effiduase District Police Command in the Eastern region has arrested 23 suspects including a female  believed to be linked to various crimes in the New Juaben Municipality.

The suspects were arrested during a swoop organized Tuesday dawn in Oyoko, Effiduase and Zongo areas. Items retrieved from the suspects are substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.

Speaking to Kasapa News, the Effiduase District Police Commander, DSP Daniel Yaro said the exercise is part of measures being rolled out to clamp down on criminals and miscreants engaging in all manner of criminality particularly burglary, robbery and drug peddling.

He said, the Police is committed to ensuring that residents in New Juaben Municipality are secured.

According to the Police Commander, the suspects are being profiled and screened for Court.

On February 2, 2017, the Effiduase District Police Command managed to arrest four suspects in connection with a robbery attack on a house located at Asokorekuma.

The suspects are, Devine Modzaka, 27, a phone repairer, Edward Nketia, 20, driver, Isaac Gariba and Daniel Bekoe.

During the robbery attack, the suspects managed to abscond with 4 HP laptops, a motorola mobile phone, one CCIT mobile phone, a Motorola S mobile phone, a Sumsung Phone, a Multi -TV decorder, LG Plasma television, laptops with total worth of ghc6,800 and a cash of Ghc500 but most of the stolen items have been retrieved by the police.

The suspects are currently facing trial for conspiracy to commit crime, robbery and dishonestly receiving.

Trial has been adjourned to March 8, 2017 at the Koforidua Circuit court.

The suspects are on prison remand however, Daniel Bekoe has been granted bail.
