Emmanuel Antwi earns first Black Stars call-up for final AFCON 2025 qualifiers

Asante Kotoko SC midfielder Emmanuel Antwi has been called up to the Ghana national team for the first time ahead of the decisive final rounds of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The 24-year-old has made a strong impression since joining Kotoko from Great Olympics at the beginning of the 2024-25 season, featuring in nine Ghana Premier League matches and scoring once.
Antwi’s selection by head coach Otto Addo underscores his impressive form and growth, marking him as one of only three home-based players in the squad.
Alongside Antwi, FC Samartex 1996 defender Isaac Afful and Nations FC captain Razak Simpson have also been included in the 23-man roster.
Ghana is set to play Angola on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, followed by a home match against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18.
Currently third in Group F with two points from four matches, the Black Stars trail group leaders Angola and second-placed Sudan.
To secure their spot in AFCON 2025 in Morocco, Ghana must win both of their upcoming matches and rely on Sudan dropping points in their final games.
With the pressure mounting, the team is motivated to deliver strong performances and turn around their challenging campaign.
