moussa A report in the Daily Mirror has claimed that Celtic striker Moussa Dembele's eligibility has been explored by the Football Association in the hope that they can convince him to play for England.

The French-born forward has been enjoying a wonderful start to life with the Hoops, scoring 12 goals in all competitions, and has been rewarded with a call-up to the France under-21 side for their upcoming games with their Georgian and Northern Irish counterparts.

However, the Mirror reports that the English FA are considering a last-ditch plea to get Dembele to consider playing for them rather than making himself available for Didier Deschamps' side.

The 20-year-old will qualify to play for the Three Lions next year, the Mirror reports, having come through the ranks with Championship side Fulham since 2012 and subsequently staying in the United Kingdom following his summer switch.

The Mirror adds that he would prefer to play for the country of his birth, but is open to the idea of potentially playing for England.

Dembele's form since his move to Parkhead would suggest that he could potentially be a useful option to have amongst the England set-up in the future.

He proved against Manchester City in midweek that he is capable of scoring against defenders of international quality, and is arguably playing for the perfect team for his development.
