The National Communication Officer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Sammy Gyamfi, has described as “lies”, the government’s position that Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) has not been approved and endorsed for basic schools.

In reference to the alleged introduction of CSE into the basic school curricula, which has been widely condemned by both the Christian and Muslim communities as a “satanic” means of subtly exposing pupils to the LGBTQI agenda in Ghana, President Nana Akufo-Addo told a congregation at the St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, on Sunday, 6 October that such a thing will never happen under his watch.

“There is only one thing I want to say: I think you people have heard within the past days, some discussions have gone on that I and my government want to teach our children some things that are inappropriate. I brought the Free Senior High School [policy] to strengthen the country so that our children will all get the opportunity to learn and through the education, we will all see the progress we want for this country.

“I didn’t bring it for our children to be taught inappropriate contents. So long as I sit on this big seat as the President of this nation, and as a Christian, it will never happen that I will agree for inappropriate things to be taught in our schools. So, please keep your cool. Whatever they are saying has no truth in it”.

Last week, Education Minister Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh denied claims that CSE had been approved to be part of the curricula for basic schools.

But reacting to these denials, Mr Gyamfi said the government is being dishonest with Ghanaians.

In a statement, Mr Gyamfi said: “Friends, we need to be very frontal on this issue of CSE. We must not allow our dishonest President to hoodwink Ghanaians and get away with his usual lies on this issue of CSE.

“The claim by the President that the CSE programme has not been approved by Cabinet is a barefaced lie. It is indisputable that the satanic CSE programme has been approved by the GES, the Ministry of Education, and Cabinet, which is chaired by President Akufo-Addo himself, and is currently being implemented by the Ministry of Education.

“The President wants the Ghanaian people to take him for his word? Well, nothing has changed because his words and promises have proven to be the most cunning and deceitful in the history of Ghanaian politics.

Now, before I proceed further, someone ought to answer the following questions first:

“Why will the GES incorporate CSE in the 2019 Ghanaian Language and English Language curricula if it is yet to be approved?

“And why will the GES train teachers on these guidelines if it is yet to be approved?

“It is an incontrovertible fact that the satanic CSE guidelines have been approved by the Akufo-Addo government, published by the GES on their website and incorporated in the 2019 curricula. Teachers have and are being trained to teach it this year. So, CSE has gone beyond the consideration and approval stage and is currently at the implementation stage as was promised by the dishonorable Minister of Education in February 2019.

“The so-called statement about our Ghanaian values and norms which the President claims has been inserted in the guidelines at the instance of Cabinet is totally irrelevant to the concerns being expressed by moral society and Ghanaians on this CSE matter. That statement does not change the toxic objectives of the CSE program as expressed in the guidelines, nor does it change the fact that under this evil CSE program, our children will be taught sexual rights and admonished to be ‘open-minded and non-judgmental’ about the various sexual orientations of people (LGBT). Neither does it also change the fact that our children will be taught to accept and tolerate LGBT as a human and sexual right.

“Clearly, this latest lie from the President is no different from the litany of lies which have been told by the Minister of Education, Napo, since this CSE matter broke. It underlines the dishonesty of the Akufo-Addo government and shows that he and his government cannot be trusted by Ghanaians.

“President Akufo-Addo and the NPP must credit moral society and Ghanaians with some intelligence. The belated damage control that he is seeking to do, is not only a poor attempt at defending the indefensible once again, but an insult to the intelligence of the Catholic Bishop Conference, the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Christian Council, the Christian Council, the Chief Imam, and Ghanaians at large. He cannot describe all these noble personalities and institutions as “liars”. He is not the only one who can read and understand the satanic CSE guidelines.

“Dishonest President Akufo-Addo must be told that he cannot lie his way out of this CSE embarrassment as has become his posturing on similar imbroglio that have befallen his government. The only way out for him and his government is for him to return the $22 million dollars he was given by the Swedish Government, ostensibly to introduce the satanic CSE programme in Ghana. The only way out for him is to abandon this evil CSE initiative completely. Ghana belongs to God, and we will not allow him to bring curses on this country and destroy the future of our children.

“He must immediately review his “Homosexuality is bound to happen in Ghana” ideology and philosophy which has now made Ghana a very fertile destination for LGBT activists and promoters, and apologize for bringing the name of this country into disrepute.

“If there is nothing wrong with CSE as the President would have us believe, why did the Minister of Education, Napo, tell the Catholic Bishops’ Conference that CSE is an agenda by some external forces and that the Akufo-Addo government will reject it out rightly, only to turn around and implement it behind their backs?
“President Akufo-Addo owes it as a solemn pledge to the Ghanaian people to govern this country with truth in accordance with the oath of his high office.

“Enough of the lies!”
