One of West Africa’s largest and leading book distributors, EPP Books Services, has donated items worth over Ghc 3,000 to two award winning teachers in the Banda Ahenkro Methodist Basic School in the Brong Ahafo Region

The items include a mobile phone each, some teaching manuals and an undisclosed amount of money.

The two teachers had earlier been rewarded each with GH₵5 worth of airtime for emerging the overall best teachers in the school.

The award scheme was instituted by the Chairman of the Parents-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school to honour teachers who excelled in their work.

Two other colleagues who came as runners-up were also given GH₵2 airtime each as their prize packages.

Explaining the rational behind the gesture, the Marketing manager EPP Legon branch Alberta Sanful said the organisation appreciated the efforts of teachers in helping build a strong and wealthy nation through the impact of knowledge to children.

She said teachers play vital roles in the lives of the students in their classrooms such as educating the students that are placed in their care, mentor and nurture students to become role models.

"Therefore as an institution that is into education through the selling of books, we decided to contribute our quota as part of our corporate social responsibility to celebrate the teachers in our own small way", Miss Alberta added

She also advised teachers across the country to continue to give their best wherever they found themselves "and their efforts will surely be recognised".

Speaking on behalf of the teachers, Mr Christopher Appiah, one of the award winning teachers lauded the effort of EPP Books Services adding that the reward will go a long way in helping impact knowledge in school.

"We are shocked and at the same time happy. This support is enormous and I can't tell you how grateful we are", he said.

Mr Appiah also urged teachers across the country to continue to give their best in other to build a strong nation.
