James Kwesi Appiah has expressed his deep sorrows for the death of his former coach E.K Afranie.


Afranie was killed in an accident while being transferred from Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra to Kumasi for further treatment, after suffering a mild stroke.

Kwesi Appiah, who played under Afranie in 1982 and 1984 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Libya and Ivory Coast, respectively has stated that he is devastated by the death of his former coach

''It was very difficult for me to control my emotions when I heard his sudden death. I used to talk to him even at on his sickness bed when I was in Sudan. He is inspirational to me and has given me loads of advice. A true legend is gone,'' Appiah told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

Akwesi Appiah, who was the first indigene to qualify Ghana for the World Cup is currently the coach of Al Khartoum in Sudan.
