The vigilance of prison warders at the Koforidua Prisons in the Eastern Region, has led to the arrest of an ex-convict who tried smuggling dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp into the yard for his former colleagues.

The baker and fashion designer who was released from prison through Presidential pardon, is reported to have gained notoriety in the drug trade with collusion from some inmates.

Armed with this information, a warder disguised as a middle man approached the suspect for supply, which he happily agreed to.

A deal was struck with the officer who was poise to see an end of his criminal activity, as he began supplying the compressed marijuana slabs and tooth paste.

Luck however eluded him as he was arrested in the process and handed over to the Effiduase Police.

Effiduase Police Commander, Daniel Yaro, who confirmed the news however said his outfit is carrying out further investigations on the suspect and his mode of operation.
