Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has made explosive revelations about a deeply personal betrayal involving his ex-teammate Kwame Poku, accusing him of secretly dating his girlfriend and breaking their close friendship.

In a candid interview on Kumasi-based Pure FM, Blay detailed how his trust was shattered after discovering that Opoku, whom he considered a brother, had been having an affair with his partner behind his back.

“I once introduced my girlfriend to Kwame Poku because I considered him a close friend,” Blay stated. “A few weeks later, I started having issues with her, and that’s when I discovered Poku had been secretly seeing her.”

Blay said he began to grow suspicious when his girlfriend started displaying insider knowledge of team affairs, even before he mentioned anything to her.

“She suddenly seemed to know everything happening inside the team’s clubhouse. Every move I made, she already knew. At first, I thought a security officer at the club was leaking information,” he revealed.

However, after confronting the issue, the truth emerged.

“During a confrontation, the security man cleared himself and said it was actually Poku who had been telling her everything. I reported it to Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and the team manager.”

Though both players tried to remain professional on the pitch, Blay admits that their relationship was never the same again.

“We made sure it didn’t affect our performance during games, but from that day, I knew I could never trust him again.”

Context:

  • Kwame Poku returned to Asante Kotoko in January 2025 after a stint abroad.
  • Justice Blay joined Kotoko in 2022 but was released in June 2025 as part of a squad overhaul ahead of the new season.

As of now, Kwame Poku has not responded publicly to the serious allegations.

The revelation adds another layer of off-field drama at a time when Asante Kotoko is undergoing a major squad and culture rebuild.
