Exciting programmes to mark AFRIMA 2018

GHANA hosts the fifth edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) from November 21-24 and organisers, the International Committee of AFRIMA and African Union Commission, AUC, have announced programmes to mark the event.

AFRIMA, established in 2014, rewards and celebrates musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage.

According to the Country Director for Ghana, AFRIMA, Mr Francis Doku, this year’s edition, which is on the theme:

“Africa is Gold” kicks off with the AFRIMA Welcome Soiree on Wednesday, November 21.

“It is a reception in honour of arriving AFRIMA nominees and delegates, African Union officials, members of the International Committee of AFRIMA, media and other invited guests.

“This will be followed by the Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS) the following day on the theme: “African Music in a Global Village: Leveraging the Opportunities” at the Ballroom, Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City, Accra at 8.30 a.m.

“Later in the day, lovers of African music will be treated to high octane performances by up-and-coming and A-list artistes from across the continent at the AFRIMA Music Village hosted at the Independence Square, Accra from 5.00 p.m. till the wee hours of dawn,” he said.

Mr Doku added that in a bid to showcase the cultural and historical dynamism of Accra, invited guests would be treated to a tour of landmarks and sights of the city on Friday, November 23. The Nominees’ Party comes off later at 10 p.m.

The live broadcast of the main awards ceremony on Saturday, November 24 will have in attendance high-profile guests from across the continent and the Diaspora.

“Scheduled for the Accra International Conference Centre, AICC at 7.30 p.m., the star-studded awards show will begin with the live broadcast red carpet at 4.30 p.m. where all the glam, glitz and high fashion of the 5th AFRIMA-Ghana 2018 will be on display.

“Wrapping up the thrilling event programme is the 5th AFRIMA After-Party at the Pool Bar, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast, Accra, Ghana,” he said.
