Some soccer fans in Accra on Wednesday criticised the head coach of the
Black Stars for the team’s near abysmal performance in their opening game
against Benin on Tuesday. The scored line was 2-2 with Ghana picking a red card.

John Evans Asomani, a diehard supporter of the team, says the coach could have played some tried and tested players like Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah, Baba Rahman and Jonathan Mensah, who were started from the bench or were not called to action at all.

“I think our coach is confused, he has so many talents that he cannot get things right,”

Ms. Persis Eshun, told APA, explaining that the coach should do better in his second

match.

A public relations practitioner and football enthusiast, Mr. Emmanuel Halm, said:

“I have to tell you the truth, the coach needs some motivation to play the big players he selected. How can Gyan start from the bench, he was not introduced at all. He should have been introduced when Ghana went up.”

Some radio stations sports presenters and panel discussants, who discussed the result of the match, expressed hope that they would do better as the tournament progresses.

The four-time winners will next face defending champions Cameroon in their second Group game on Saturday.
