A female pedophile has been jailed after she lured a girl under the age of 10 to her home and sexually abused her.

Eileen McBrien, 62, was given a six-year prison sentence for sexual abuse. She lured the girl to a property where she forced the victim to perform a sex act on her.

But the girl opened up to her mum about what had happened, leading to McBrien’s arrest.

McBrien denied the allegations, meaning her victim had to relive her ordeal in court.

The child has been praised for her bravery in coming forward in 2017 to tell her mother what hapened to her and for telling a jury what had happened to her in Manchester.

Sergeant Laura Halley said:

This is a harrowing case involving a young child who bravely disclosed what had happened to her.

As a result of her telling her mother we were able to swiftly arrest McBrien and I hope this case demonstrates just how seriously we take reports of this nature.

By pleading not guilty, McBrien made the young victim relive her ordeal through the trial and caused further trauma.

The family and victim have been through an extremely difficult time and hopefully this sentence will bring them some closure and allow them to move on with their lives.

McBrien was found guilty of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and will be on the sex offenders’ register for life.
