Ghanaian international Andre Ayew has won his race to be fit for Fenerbahce’s UEFA Champions League third qualifying round first leg tie at Portuguese giants Benfica.

The 28 year old trained normally with the rest of the group at the Estadio da Luz on Monday after missing sunday’s session due to a reported back problem.

Head coach Phillip Cocu will make his decision whether to start Ayew or not but it is reasonable to assume that he will form part of the squad as part of his adaptation.

Depending on how the final pans out, he could make an appearance late in the game if the coach sees fit.

Ayew joined from English Championship side Swansea two weeks ago and played his first match when he was handed a start and lasted 58 minutes in the friendly win over Italian side Cagliari.
