neymar-2021-1477060280595Barcelona forward Neymar has finally put pen to paper on his new contract with the club on Friday afternoon.

Neymar is now tied to the catalan club until June 2021, as had been announced at the beginning of July.

Neymar's first deal with the club, which he signed when he arrived from Santos in 2013, was due to expire in 2018.

Neymar although has continuously stated that he was happy at Barcelona, has been the subject of many transfer speculations since his arrival at Barca with PSG, Manchester United and Real Madrid the regular names to pop up in a bid to snatch the sensational  Brazilian away from the Nou Camp.

This renewal therefore will put many doubting minds at ease as the player has the players long term future at Barca is secured.

A statement from the Catalan club read: "This afternoon at the club's offices, Neymar has signed a new contrat with FC Barcelona which will run until Jun. 30, 2021.

"The release clause will be €200 million for the first year of the contract, €222 million in the second year and €250 million for the remaining three years of the contract.

"Also present at the signing were president Josep Maria Bartomeu, vice president Jordi Mestre, directors Javier Bordas and Albert Soler, sporting director Robert Fernandez, CEO Oscar Grau.

"At 19.30 on Hora B on Barça TV, there will be an interview with the player."

The contract is also speculated to include a significant pay rise for the player making him the second top earner at the club, behind Lionel Messi.
