Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has assured that the country’s debt sustainability has seen marked improvement, with future borrowing to be carefully directed toward projects of lasting economic and social value.
“I will not borrow for consumption but for transformative projects like this,” Dr. Forson stressed during a meeting with the President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), H.E. Mr. Abdullah KH ALMUSAIBEEH.
He reaffirmed government’s commitment to investing in strategic projects that secure Ghana’s future, despite fiscal constraints. Among these priorities is a new Accra–Kumasi motorway, for which feasibility studies are already underway. According to the Minister, the project is expected to be completed within two and a half years once it commences.
For his part, BADEA President Mr. ALMUSAIBEEH welcomed the Minister’s proposals and pledged the Bank’s readiness to support high-impact initiatives that align with Ghana’s development goals.
