Firmus Advisory Limited holds maiden workshop on regulatory compliance

Firmus Advisory Limited on Wednesday held its maiden workshop on regulatory compliance, bringing together the various regulatory agencies to discuss ways of improving the ease of doing business in Ghana.
Seven regulatory agencies spoke on the day to explain the steps in registering businesses with the appropriate agencies and how best activities of business organisations can be regularised.
The event was aimed at looking into the processes for accessing business incentives, benefits and renewal as well other key services offered by each agency.
The Registrar General's Department, Ghana Investment Promotions Centre, Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Free Zones Authority, Ghana Immigration Service, Food and Drugs Authority, Environmental Protection Authority were offered the platform to address issues concerning their respective tasks in relation to business operations in the country.
About 1000 participant attended the event held at the British Council which offered them opportunity to acquire in details how to obtain all licences for business operation and stay compliant with all agencies.
In a keynote address on read on his behalf the Minister of Business Development, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, called for collaboration between regulatory bodies and individual Business organisations, which he said is "crucial to the success of the economy."
"Over the years, many entrepreneurial visions have been shattered all because of some kind of cumbersome processes and unfriendly employees who think they are doing someone a favour by providing relevant information to clients who comes to their work environment," said the statement read by the Director of Operations at the Office of the president Mr Jonas Kofi Arhin.
"The time has come for regulators to know, understand and appreciate the fact that they are because of who we are," it added.
Mr Arhin further took the opportunity to commend Firmus Advisory on their efforts to ensure the growth of businesses in the country.
He urge them to keep organising such event which provide insights for new and existing business to understand the steps to take to ensure growth and survival.
The forum created synergies and networking among businesses and regulatory compliance agencies as they sought to eliminate bottlenecks and improving the ease of doing business in Ghana.
