The National Democratic Congress (NDC) foot soldiers in the Ashanti Region are pursing members of the regional campaign team to refund huge sums of money sent to them to campaign for the December 7 elections.

The party had targeted 1.5 million votes but ended up not getting even 40% of it. The foot soldiers are now blaming those who were assigned the responsibility of prosecuting the agenda of the party of disappointing them.

The former Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Ejisu, Mr. Afrifah Yamoah Ponkoh, was the first to fire salvoes at the Regional Campaign Team.

He accused the Chairman, Mr. Andy Osei Okrah, of being incompetent in terms of mobilization of resources for campaigning.

According to the firebrand NDC member, he did not know the criteria for which Mr. Okrah was appointed to head the campaign in the region, when there were highly competent and politically experienced people around, who could have done far better.

Speaking on the controversial Montie FM, the former Ejisu MCE called for thorough investigations into the whereabouts of monies earmarked for the campaign.

“You have stolen sacks of government and campaign money. Go and enjoy with your wives and kids. God is watching you,” he ranted.

According to him, anyone who contributed directly to the defeat of the party will face the wrath of God.

“Anyone who contributed to this embarrassment, our defeat, Nyame betua wo ka,” (God will pay you back), he said.

A member of the Communication Team, Yakubu Tony Aidoo, on Tuesday led thugs to the Regional Office of the party and put the place under lock and key. The action is in protest against the regional executives, whom they accused of disappointing the teeming supporters.

They warned that until the party renders accountability of their stewardship, the office will continue to remain locked.

In another development, a Prof Atta Mills-NDC group, Friends of Atta Mills, has sent a message of congratulations to the President elect, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo and his vice, Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, for their emphatic victory in last Wednesday’s elections.

The group says the victory of the NPP demonstrates the unwavering and perseverance of Nana Akufo Addo and his vice President elect, Dr. Bawumia.

In a statement issued and signed by its National Coordinator, Gabriel Aggah, the group urged Ghanaians, irrespective of their political affiliations, to come together and support the new leadership in order for them to succeed.

The group further charged its members to refrain from any attacks on the personality and administration of the NPP as they seek to implement their campaign promises contained in their manifesto.

“It is our plea that members of Friends Of Atta Mills will work in oneness and with all enthusiasm to defend and to help our incoming president so that all his intentions will be achieved,” the statement emphasized.

It further appealed to Ghanaians to give Nana Addo and his leadership enough time to be able to implement their policies and programmes.
