Foreign Affairs Ministry urges health precautions for Ghanaian travellers to Senegal
26th March 2026
Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised citizens planning trips to Senegal to prioritise their health by taking recommended vaccinations before departure.
In a statement issued on March 26, the Ministry highlighted guidance from Senegalese authorities, which encourages travellers to be immunised against several communicable diseases.
These include yellow fever, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus (DPT), measles, as well as hepatitis A and B.
However, the Ministry clarified that presenting proof of vaccination is not a compulsory entry requirement for travellers arriving in Senegal.
Despite this, prospective travellers are strongly encouraged to consult qualified healthcare professionals ahead of their journey to ensure their routine immunisations are up to date and to receive any additional vaccines deemed necessary.
The Ministry emphasised that taking these precautions is essential not only for personal safety but also for preventing the spread of infectious diseases across borders.
It further reaffirmed its commitment to keeping Ghanaians informed with timely travel advisories, aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of citizens abroad.
