Debra Lee, a former chief executive officer (CEO) of BET Networks has joined AT&T’s board as a member.

According to a statement released by AT&T, they are looking forward to utilizing Lee’s leadership qualities, expertise and experience in media & entertainment.

A top AT&T official noted that Lee’s unique perspective as a media icon will help AT&T in a myriad of ways.

Per a report by blackenterprise.com, Lee, increased BET’s budget by 50% and included relevant content into the network.

She also played a key role in creating a medium for African-American movies, music and shows.

She has served on a number of board, including that of Twitter and Marriott International Inc.

In other news, a Ghanaian fashion designer has been added to a list of 20 business leaders who have been profiled by the IFC.

Nora Bannerman has been globally recognized for her work and success in it regardless of the challenges that confront the average African female business leader.

The publication is focused on the business journeys of the women and was focused on countries such as Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, and South Africa.
