Ghanaian player Winful Cobbinah is in deep trouble in Albania after he was convicted to serve a four month jail term after he was found guilty for the falsification of his residence permit.

The player who plays Albanian top flight side FK Tirana was convicted on Tuesday at a court hearing in Albania were he was found culpable of the offence.

Cobbinah who has been convicted to serve a four month jail term will not be incarcerated as he was deemed by the judge to be a person of good character who has led an exemplary life since migrating to the European nation.

His sentence has therefore been commuted to 100 hours of community service by the presiding judge.

According to the judge during the ruling, the Ghanaian midfielder who is to do 100 hours of community service is not a 'threat to society'.

This means the Ghanaian player is a free man and can continue to play his football for his team FK Tirana as he does always.

Cobbinah was found by the Police in Rinas to have forged his residence permit despite the player being eligible to apply for Albanian citizenship.

Last month the former Hearts of Oak midfielder was granted Albanian citizenship in record time despite not living in the country for the required five years.

This resulted in a heated exchanges between the country's President Ilir Meta and opposition leader and prime minister.

His citizenship application was fast tracked as he was granted Albanian citizenship eight hours after applying raising eyebrows that the President who is an ardent fan of FK Tirana had something to do with it.

It is been speculated that the move to get Cobbinah an Albanian citizenship is to try and cajole the former Hearts of Oak star to naturalize and play for Albania.
