Four Killed After Snake-Killing Attempt Triggers Deadly Dynamite Blast in Aboso

Four people have died and several others sustained injuries following a devastating dynamite explosion at Aboso in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality of the Western Region.

The explosion, which occurred at Breman, was reportedly triggered when an attempt to kill a snake allegedly resulted in a gunshot hitting explosives that had been stored near a gas station.

According to an eyewitness account, residents were thrown into panic after hearing a powerful blast, with many initially believing the sound was caused by an earthquake.

“We heard a loud sound, which many of us thought was an earthquake. We later found out that a man who is known to be dealing in explosives had gone to hide some of these explosives around a gas station in Breman,” the eyewitness said.

The eyewitness explained that some workers linked to the individual who allegedly stored the explosives were operating near the area when they encountered the snake.

In an attempt to kill the reptile, one of the men reportedly fired a gun, but the bullet struck the hidden explosives, causing the deadly explosion.

“He fired the gun aimed at the snake, but it ended up hitting the explosives that were hidden and ended up exploding, killing many of the people who were around,” the eyewitness added.

The blast left residents in shock as emergency teams rushed to the scene to provide assistance, assess the extent of the damage and support injured victims.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the storage of the explosives and determine whether any safety regulations were breached.
