Ghanaian winger Frank Acheampong has been handed a Black Stars call up for the first time in nearly three years.

The former Anderlecht winger has not featured for Ghana since C.K Akonnor was appointed coach of the Black Stars in January 2020.

He last played for the Black Stars in March 2018 in a 2-0 friendly match against Japan and has then been shunned by various national team coaches.

Acheampong has been out of the Black Stars squad since leaving camp due to an eye complication ahead of an Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Kenya in 2018.

Since moving to China in 2017 the winger has been in good form for his sides but was constantly overlooked but now C.K Akonnor has offered him the chance to shine once more.

He has so far netted a goal in four games for his new side Shenzen FC.

Ghana will play two high profile games against North African giants Morocco (Atlas Lions) and two-time African champions Ivory Coast (Elephants) next month in place of the two FIFA World Cup qualifiers that got cancelled last week.
