The Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service have assured the public of heightened security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful festive season.

On Thursday, December 11, 2025, the two security agencies staged a joint display of arms and tactical equipment in Accra, demonstrating their preparedness to maintain law and order before, during, and after the Christmas holidays.

Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohunu, said the exercise was aimed at boosting public confidence while sending a firm warning to criminal elements.

“We want to assure Ghanaians that we are ready to protect them throughout this Christmas and beyond. It is also to send a strong message to criminals that it will be uncomfortable for them to operate, especially within this period.”

Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. General William Agyapong, reaffirmed the military’s commitment, emphasising that the festive period demands heightened vigilance.

“This is the time we need to up our game more than ever,” he said. “We want you to maintain a very deterring posture and stand on alert for any eventuality," he said.

The joint deployment forms part of a broader national holiday security strategy, which includes intensified patrols, rapid response units, and increased security presence in public spaces to ensure Ghanaians enjoy a peaceful and safe celebration.
