The Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) has organised a special demonstration cricket tournament for two basic schools at the Saltpond COS Park in the Central Region.

The competition was part of an initiative of the GCA to grow and develop the game in the country.

The beneficiary basic schools, Mfantsiman and Jubilee were drawn into two categories of males and females.

In the girls division, Mfantsiman Basic won the toss and was elected to field. Jubilee went on to score 50 runs for 4 wickets in 10 overs. Mfantsiman basic took over the batting in the second innings to score 52 runs in 5.5 overs, winning the game by 6 wickets.

In the boys division, Jubilee won the toss and opted to bat. They scored 79 runs for 2 wickets in 15 overs. Mfantsiman went on to score 80 runs for 6 wickets in 15 overs. Mfantsiman won by 1 run.

Meanwhile in Obuasi, GCA organised a “Scoring” seminar for selected Physical Education (PE) tutors in the Obuasi Municipality.

The seminar, aimed at teaching the tutors, saw them going through introduction to Cricket and rudiments of the game.

They were also tutored on how to record a score in the game of cricket. The seminar was conducted by Prince Eugene King.
