The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is mourning the loss of two towering figures in Ghanaian sports journalism—Mr. Ackah Anthony and Mr. Ebo Quansah—both former Presidents of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).
Mr. Ackah Anthony, who led SWAG as its sixth President from 2007 to 2015, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025. He was widely respected for his commitment, integrity, and steady leadership that advanced the work of sports writers across the country.
Mr. Ebo Quansah, who served as the fifth President of SWAG and remained a patron of the association until his passing, is remembered as a legendary voice in Ghanaian journalism. His pen, passion, and principled stance helped shape the narrative of Ghanaian sports over decades.
In a tribute, GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo praised their immense contributions: “The two distinguished men served the GFA in different capacities in its development agenda in the past, and we thank them exceedingly for their contributions to Ghana Football.”
The GFA acknowledged that both men were more than just journalists—they were passionate custodians of truth, fairness, and excellence in sports reporting. Their dedication to SWAG and the broader football ecosystem leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
The Association extended heartfelt condolences to their families, loved ones, and the entire SWAG community.
The GFA stands in solidarity with all who mourn, paying tribute to the profound impact of Mr. Ackah Anthony and Mr. Ebo Quansah on Ghana’s sporting journey.
