Referees in the Ghana Premier League and the National Division One League are smiling all the way to the bank.

The knight of the whistle were owed some monies from the truncated 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season as they had not been paid for matches they handled from match week 9-15.

According to sources, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have cleared all arrears they owe referees for last season both in the Ghana Premier League and the National Division One.

The GFA have penciled the month of October for the start of the 2020/2021 league season after the 2019/2020 season was truncated due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Already the current administration came to meet some debt owed referees out of which some amounts have been paid with a payment plan agreed for the total debts to be settled by 2021.

In a meeting at the GFA headquarters some time ago ,the leadership of the Ghana FA has promised to stagger the payments of monies owed referees for years now.

According to the president of the Referees Association Ghana(RAG),Mr Joe Debrah, they have been promised that a first tranche of GH 30,000 will be paid before the start of the current season before the second tranche is part at the end of the yet to begin season.

With the last tranche being paid the following year which is in 2021.
