The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to deliberate on the future of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo following the team’s disastrous 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign.

Ghana endured a winless run in Group F, finishing at the bottom with only three points from six matches.

The campaign included a 1-0 defeat to Angola, a 1-1 draw with Niger, and lackluster performances against Sudan, underscoring a disappointing outing. Angola dominated the group with 14 points, followed by Sudan (8) and Niger (7).

The final blow came with a 2-1 loss to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium, prompting widespread calls for Addo’s resignation.

However, the under-fire coach remained defiant, rejecting the public backlash.

“I’m not the person who can resign. If I had done this, I’d never have become a player or even a coach,” Addo stated.

“If you know where I have come from as a person to arrive at this job, you wouldn’t even ask about resignation. People shouting and telling me to resign can’t affect me.”

The GFA’s Executive Council is set to meet on Wednesday to assess the team’s performance and decide whether to retain Otto Addo or seek new leadership.

The decision could mark a significant turning point for Ghanaian football as the nation grapples with its AFCON qualification disappointment.
