Coach Kwasi Appiah is set to drop General captain of the Black Stars Asamoah Gyan from the list of players who will do battle against South Africa and Sao Tome in the Afcon 2021 qualifier.
The Black Stars of Ghana will take on the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Thursday 14th November 2019 in the first match of the Afcon qualifier before taking on minnows Sao Tome and Principe three days later away from home.
Ghana will have to play these matches without all time leading scorer Asamoah Gyan as coach Kwasi Appiah does not see him as part of his plans going forward.
The 33 year old joined Indian Super league side NorthEast United in the summer and has been in good form for his side scoring the winner in their 2-1 victory over Odisha over the weekend.
Gyan was nearly dropped in the run up to the Afcon 2019 tournament in Egypt due to a row over captaincy with the coach it had to take the intervention of Ghana's president Nana Akufo-Addo before he was included in the squad for the tournament.
It appears Egypt 2019 Afcon is the last we will see of Asamoah Gyan at least under coach Kwasi Appiah for the Black Stars as he has no future under the current coach.
Asamoah Gyan has made 105 appearances for the Black Stars scoring 51 goals in the process.
