Ghana head coach Otto Addo remains optimistic about the Black Stars' chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) despite their disappointing start.

The four-time African champions have yet to secure a win in their opening Group F matches, having lost to Angola and drawn against Niger in September.

With a crucial double-header against Sudan scheduled for October, Addo is hopeful that his team can turn their fortunes around and get their qualification campaign back on track.

"It's still possible, but we have to improve, we have to improve much," Addo stated during a post-match press conference.

"We must capitalize on our chances, defend better, and learn our lessons. The goals we conceded were too cheap, and we need to grow from this. This is more than a wake-up call."

Addo also voiced his frustrations over the team's defensive lapses, particularly during the match against Niger, where they conceded from a set piece.

"We are conceding too many cheap goals," he lamented. "I am disappointed because we didn't learn from the first game.

Now it's a set piece — we are all back, and we need to defend this better, that's for sure.

Like I said, I am really disappointed. But it's still in our hands. We have the same points as Niger, and now we have to wait."

The Black Stars will look to improve their performance and keep their qualification hopes alive in the upcoming matches against Sudan.
