Ghana defender Kassim Nuhu impressive performances this season has been rewarded as his side Young Boys Bern ended a 32-year wait to win the Swiss league.

They clinched the title with a dramatic 2-1 win over FC Lucerne on Saturday, ending FC Basel's eight-year dominance of the competition.

Kassim conceded a free-kick which led to Luzern opening the scoring through Christian Schneuwly.

But Frenchman Guillaume Hoarau equalised before Cameroonian Jean-Pierre Nsame sealed the win in the 89th minute.

With four games remaining Young Boys boast an unassailable 75 points. FC Basel, on 59, host FC Thoune on Sunday.

Kassim has made 29 appearances - more than any Young Boys defender - and scored two goals this season.
