Ghana FA launches specialized goalkeeper coaching course

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has launched a five-day specialized coaching course aimed at enhancing the skills of goalkeepers' trainers across various football leagues in the country.

The course, currently underway at the GFA Technical Centre in Prampram, brings together coaches from the Premier League, Division One League, Women’s League, and Division Two clubs.

A total of 52 participants are attending the training, which runs from Wednesday, September 11, 2024, to Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

The primary focus of the program is to equip coaches with the knowledge and skills needed to develop and implement effective goalkeeping practices in their respective clubs and teams.

In addition to technical training, the course also emphasizes integrity in sports.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of ethical practices and be prepared to offer crucial insights and guidance on these matters to their clubs and stakeholders.

The training is led by former Ghana goalkeeper Abubakar Damba, with support from Black Stars' goalkeepers' trainer Fatawu Dauda, and former goalkeepers Cudjoe Addo and Isaac Amoako.

The program is being supervised by GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah and Director of Coach Education Desmond Sakyi Ofei, with administrative assistance from Andrews Kwesi Eshun.

This coaching course is part of the GFA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the goalkeeping sector within Ghanaian football and ensure that all levels of the game are equipped with well-trained and highly qualified coaches.
