Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast's Department of Sociology and Anthropology (Sociology of Peace, Conflict and Security), Mr Ahmed Baba Yahaya has stated that Ghana, as a country has failed in its quest to give the needed protection to journalists in their line of duties.

According to Baba Yahaya, also a security expert, a country that has journalists living in fear is not safe for everyone.

His comments come after news broke Thursday morning that undercover journalist who worked with Anas Aremeyaw Anas' Tiger Eye PI team, Ahmed Hussein-Suale has been shot to death.

Speaking exclusively to Abdul Basit on Alpah radio Friday, the senior lecturer said, journalists are the source of every information in our daily lives and as such no one can undermine or interfere with the role they play in society.

He has since called on the security agencies and those in authority to take immediate actions concerning the killing of innocent journalists.

The security expert also warned and advised the citizenry to be law abiding and discipline, adding that the police can't do all activities unless we assist them with our intelligence.

He pleaded to anyone who knows anything concerning the killing of the those innocent souls, to personally assist the police to fish perpetrators out to book.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, friends and colleagues journalists.
