At the Theodosia Okoh Hockey stadium, preparations have been made for World 2016 Hockey to take place from September 9-11.

The tournament which consists four participating nations will decide the male and female teams that will get closer to the International Hockey Federation's (FIH) World Cup in 2018.

From Ghana, Nigeria, Namibia and Kenya, both male and female national teams  will compete to have qualifiers for the second round of the World League.

In Valencia, Spain, for the female category and  in Bangladesh for the male category, both in February 2017.

For team Ghana, the tournament will enable them build more ranking points to assist them in qualifying for the next Commonwealth Games which will take place in Gold Coast, Australia to be precise in April 2018.

Richard Akpokavie, Ghana Hockey Association president, said on course was everything to come through to a successful tournament, and appealed to corporate bodies for financial support to host the challenge, which will be Ghana' s premier of playing host to a major hockey event since 2012.
